School and Academy places September 2024

You must apply if your child is in their last year of primary school (year 6) from September 2023. You must apply even if an older brother or sister is already at the school. If you’re a non-Lancashire resident apply through your own local authority. Please read the admission criteria for your chosen schools on the website or get a copy from them.

CLOSING DATE 31 October 2023

For Secondary School Admission Appeals there is a new LHA form available.

Appeals for LHA for 2024/25 must be submitted on the LHA form and returned to the Academy. Previous paper forms or E-forms will not be accepted. Dates for appeals will be confirmed once released.

DEADLINE FOR APPEALS 16 APRIL 2024 - Any appeals submitted after the deadline may be heard after all on time appeals have been heard.

If you have been refused a place at any school that you have named on your most recent school admission application you have the legal right to appeal against the decision. Our appeals process is fully compliant with the Department for Education Schools Appeals Code.

You can only appeal for a place at a school where you have expressed a preference and been refused a place. You cannot appeal for a school if you have not made an application for it or the application has been withdrawn.

If your child is currently at primary school and you have not yet made an application for a place for your child to join the academy in Year 7 for September of the next academic year you must first contact Lancashire County Council Admissions - https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/

They will advise how to make an application for a secondary place at Year7 based on the national application and allocation system.

If you would like your child to join LHA as an In-Year Admission in any year group please contact the academy in the first instance for our application form. admin@lostockhallacademy.org

If your In-Year application is unsuccessful you will be advised on the reasons the academy is unable to offer a place and your details will be retained for the remainder of that academic year in case a place becomes available.

You may appeal against that decision. You can contact the Academy for an appeal form. Once submitted the case will be presented to Lancashire County Council appeals for independent review in accordance with the Department for Education Schools Appeals.

You can normally only appeal for the same school once for each academic year.
