A group of Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award students successfully completed their practice expedition last Friday, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and a great sense of adventure throughout the experience.
Setting off with backpacks and maps in hand, the students were quickly tested by a mix of weather conditions, ranging from sunshine to heavy rain. Unexpected changes with a flooded underpass meant the group had to adjust their route on the go, working closely together to stay on course. The challenge encouraged students to think proactively and support one another as they navigated the route.
Despite the obstacles, the group remained positive and determined. Students demonstrated strong navigation skills, effective communication, and a clear sense of responsibility throughout the expedition. Morale stayed high, with plenty of laughter and enjoyment alongside the physical demands of the journey.
Staff supporting the expedition praised the students’ attitude and teamwork, highlighting how confidently they adapted to challenges and supported one another throughout the day. The practice expedition provided a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence and develop essential skills ahead of their qualifying expedition.
The school would like to thank the staff who gave their time and expertise to support the expedition and ensure its success.
With this practice expedition completed, the students are now looking ahead to their next challenge in a couple of weeks, where they will put their skills to the test once again as part of their Duke of Edinburgh journey.
