On Monday 6th July, Lostock Hall Academy proudly hosted the annual Brass Attack Concert, an evening celebrating the commitment, dedication and outstanding talent within our local brass band community.

Our very own Mr John Doyle hosted the evening, warmly welcoming performers and audience members alike and inviting the community to come together in celebration of brass music. His enthusiasm and passion for music helped create a wonderful atmosphere throughout the event. A special mention must also go to Mrs Burgess, who has been supporting the Lostock Hall Academy Brass Band throughout the academic year. It was wonderful to see her performing during the evening with Marshside Brass Band, one of our special guest bands. Her continued support and encouragement have been appreciated by our students.

Adding to the celebration, conductors and band leaders shared their own musical journeys and spoke passionately about the achievements of the younger musicians progressing through the ranks. Their stories highlighted the dedication, perseverance and enthusiasm of students who represent the future of brass music in our community.

The evening also featured a number of outstanding solo performances, with young musicians demonstrating confidence, skill and musical maturity beyond their years. Audiences were equally impressed by the exceptional percussionists and drummers whose energy, precision and musicianship added another dimension to the performances. It was particularly inspiring to see experienced musicians mentoring and encouraging younger players throughout the evening, reflecting the supportive spirit at the heart of the brass band movement.

We encourage everyone to look out for these fantastic groups within our local communities and support their performances whenever possible. Many of these bands warmly welcome new members, offering opportunities for musicians of all ages and abilities. Whether you are an absolute beginner picking up an instrument for the first time or an experienced player looking to continue your musical journey, there is a place for you. The brass band community is built on friendship, encouragement and a shared love of music, and it was wonderful to see this spirit on display throughout the evening.

The evening concluded with a spectacular massed bands performance, bringing together musicians from all the participating bands for a powerful and memorable finale that perfectly captured the spirit of collaboration and community at the heart of brass music. 🎺🎶
